The gladular tissue sometimes shrinks or changes form after pregnancy.
The "decoltée" disappears, so to speak, and this does not fit your feeling of well-being and your personal aesthetic requirements, as you have to keep hiding something you don't have, but would like to have or have had in the past.
An implant brings back the form and size you wish for.
The ability to nurse remains unaltered, and radiological control tests will be still possible.
In order to augment the breast an implant is placed through a small incision in either the fold underneath the breast, around the nipple aureola, or in the arm pit.
Modern implants are made of cohesive silicone gel, which makes "oozing" out of the material impossible.
Besides, the implants are coated so that the risk of capsule fibrosis is much lower.
The intervention takes place under full anesthesia.
The hospitalization time is 2 to 3 days.
- No stitch removing will be needed, as the suture material is resorbable.
- You will be able to go back to work 1 to 2 weeks after the operation
- Plaster removal will be done 2 weeks after the operation
- A metal-free sports bra will have to be worn day and night for 6 weeks after the operation
Two weeks before the operation one should refrain from taking any medication containing acetylsalicilic acid (aspirin, ASS etc) as it diminishes the clotting (coagulation) capacity of the blood.
One should also refrain from consuming alcohol, cigarettes and sleeping pills.
Nicotin can diminish the blood irrigation of tissues and thus slow the healing process.
So it is important to refrain from nicotin two weeks before the operation and during the time of healing.
Capsule fibrosis:
The implant is being held inside the body by a fine coat of connecting tissue (capsule).
It sometimes happens that a scar-like densification of this coating would lead to capsule fibrosis.
Infections, bleedings and numbness around the nipple might occur.
- Length of operation: 1 hour
- Anesthesia: full anesthesia
- Length of hospitalization: 2 nights
- Wearing a metal-free sports bra for 6 weeks
- Sports: after 4 to 6 weeks
- Fit for socializing: after 1 week
- Loss of working capacity: at least one week, often longer, depending on your profession
