It very much depends on this part of the face if we look young and fresh or old and tired.
Wrinkles, hoods or bags appear when the skin and muscles around the eyes loose their elasticity.
This can be corrected by removing skin and fat tissue.

The skin and fat parts that are to be removed are being marked, the incision is placed in the skin fold of the upper eyelid.
The lower lid is being corrected by an incision close to the eyelashes or on the inside of the lower lid.
The stitches are being removed after 5 to 7 days. There should be no pain.
- Cold packs and placing the head on high pillows should make any inflammation vanish quickly.
- The stitches are being removed 5 to 7 days after the intervention.
- For quick healing lymph drainage is recommended after lower lid operations.
- Fit for socializing after 1 to 2 weeks.
- Gradual recommencing of physical exercise after 3 weeks.
Two weeks before the operation one should refrain from taking any medication containing acetylsalicilic acid (aspirin, ASS etc) as it diminishes the clotting (coagulation) capacity of the blood.
One should also refrain from consuming alcohol, cigarettes and sleeping pills.
Nicotin can diminish the blood irrigation of tissues and thus slow the healing process.
So it is important to refrain from nicotin two weeks before the operation and during the time of healing.
Possible swellings or changes of color due to hematomas in lower lids or cheeks usually vanish withing 2 to 3 weeks.
It sometimes happenns that the closing of the eyes or the tear flow are disrupted.
Both will soon be back to normal.
